MY BUCKET LIST
I haven’t visited this location yet. It’s on my bucket list, and I wanted to share a little information in case you get a chance to explore it before I do.
Big Spring Creek Falls is a small, tiered waterfall just off Forest Road 23 in the Mount Adams area. The lower falls are close to the road, with a short user path leading farther upstream toward the upper tiers.

Why it’s on my list
One of my followers recently pointed out this beautiful little waterfall, and I actually hadn’t heard of it before. After looking it up, it seems like a really cool spot to keep in mind when exploring the Mount Adams area of Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
There are quite a few waterfalls out in this area, and if you’re already nearby for another hike or a drive through the forest, this looks like a great place to make a quick stop. The short walk from the road is definitely part of the appeal. I’m hoping to track it down the next time I’m out here.
If you’ve been here or make it out before I do, I’d love to hear how it went. Leave a comment at the bottom of the page and tell me about your visit!

- Hike Length: Approx. 0.1 mile
- Elevation Gain: Approx. 38 ft.

I haven’t found a matching AllTrails route for this stop. Northwest Waterfall Survey has more information and photos of the falls.
Getting there: Look for the roadside access on Forest Road 23 near its junction with Forest Road 90, north of Trout Lake. The map below marks the reported roadside access area, rather than the waterfall itself. Check Gifford Pinchot National Forest road conditions before going, especially outside summer.
The lower falls are close to the road, but exploring the upper tiers involves a user path. Expect uneven footing and wet rocks. The short distance doesn’t mean the whole area is paved or accessible. I haven’t confirmed current road or parking conditions.
Details checked November 2, 2026. Short-path measurements are approximate; road and parking access haven’t been confirmed. Sources: Northwest Waterfall Survey. Conditions and access can change.
